We love Teriyaki Sauce, who don't??
Wikipedia: The word, teriyaki is a combination of two Japanese words "teri" and "yaki." Teri means luster, and yaki means grill or broil.
I believe teriyaki sauce is origin from Japan and made popular in non Japanese cultures. I love the taste and texture of this sauce where it contains sweet and salty with a lovely luster taste. You can made any dish with teriyaki sauce without failure!
I was very tempted to purchase the pre-made teriyaki sauce by Kikkomun brand but knowing that there will be some sort of MSG kinda put me off.
So, as usual, I went Googling for an easy recipe.
It is very easy to make an authentic teriyaki sauce. To make teriyaki sauce, basically soy sauce, mirin, and sugar are used. (If you don't have mirin, you can substitute it with sake and sugar.)
Below the ingredients from left to right: - sugar, mirin and less salt soy sauce.

(adapted from Steamy Kitchen)
1 small sake cup of soy sauce Kikkomun
1 small sake cup of mirin
1/3 small sake cup of sugar (put more if you prefer it sweeter)
** basicailly it's a ratio of 1:1:1
(The key ingredient in teriyaki sauce is mirin.)
Mirin is an essential condiment used in Japanese cuisine, consisting of 40%–50% sugar. It is a kind of rice wine similar to sake, but with a lower alcohol content—14% instead of 20%
Mix all of them together in a saucepan and fry / bring to boil for about 2-3 minutes. You will get the combination of the sauces with the teriyaki sauce as below.
BH loves it!
I cook garlic fried rice and have this as a dipping sauce. What can I say? It's yummy-licious!
